HOW NOT TO MAKE A FILM IN MALTA

Caveh Zahedi decides to have his class of PhD and Master's students at The European Graduate School make a documentary of their classroom experience. Before he arrives in Malta, he finds out his passport has expired, so he asks Pirooz Kalayeh to co-teach the class and serve as his physical avatar in Malta while he Skypes in each day. The few students who remain in the course after finding out Caveh will not be physically present struggle with his approach and the technical requirements requested of them. Caveh quickly realizes the project is too ambitious and disaster seems imminent as the film shifts between the students' and instructors' perspectives in this Rashoman-style look at a modern classroom.
